Flynn’s Story

About Flynn

Teacher. Researcher. Practitioner.

Several years after dropping out of university due to a diagnosis of depression, Flynn’s interest in further education was sparked by a career in canine behaviour training. This first experience of authentic interest in learning opened a window which has not yet closed. Flynn has had the freedom to cover significant theoretical ground, whilst remaining rooted in practical experience.

During COVID, Flynn began sharing his research through the Exploration Group, an online semester of conversation, reading and movement research. The group began by studying first principles of movement, life and behaviour, like the Weber-Fechner Law, the Free Energy Principle and Constructivism. After four years of “exploration”, Flynn began an effort to bring these disparate fields together into “products” that could be easily taught and communicated to a wider audience. There began the Studies and Practices, which focused on a more consumer friendly version of Flynn’s findings. Joy, Anxiety and Confidence became the three central pillars of the work, each encompassing a broad territory of scientific and personal insights. Whilst the work continues to grow, these three topics have proven to be rich resources for movement professionals and practitioners from a truly wide range of backgrounds.
